| In 2023 my son was deferred from EA and then WL. By the time they got to WL, they were looking solely for OOS kinesiology majors (or similar). |
| They will be comparing you to the larger pool. You are possibly qualified but they want to see who else is in the running and if you are stronger you will be admitted and if not then denied or waitlisted. |
Well there goes then… am sure there will be plenty more qualified. |
yes, they pull very specific kids from the waitlist. It's generally not the highest stats ones but kids who meet exactly what they need--specific school, gender, etc. |
| It will be a long 3 months wait…. |
| Anyone know if UVA will defer EA this cycle too? |
I would hope so. Everyone should be doing that. |
| DS got in after being deferred - got all As across 6 APs during senior year. He may have had a few more awards/things to note but nothing major, just GPA boost |
wow very nice👌 |
My kid also has all As with maximum rigor senior fall and got the waitlist after deferral, I don’t think you can do one specific thing and then be admitted after deferral. |
Did he get in after the waitlist? |

| My kid was deferred EA/waitlisted last year for engineering in state. Got into 2 T20s (one private, one public OOS) and is attending one of those. UVA wasn't first choice but was a surprise given in-state status, stats and involvement. |
| Do deferrals even get rejected in ED or just waitlisted (assuming 1st semester grades are strong)? |
