Spouse talks too much- driving me crazy.

That lasts about 10 minutes before the verbal diarrhea starts again. I started simply going to a different room when I hear him coming.

One day when I was tired and reading in bed he cornered me and got annoyed that I asked if we could talk later. He said that usually women want a man who talks more and he’s an emotionally available husband getting shut down. Sure, okay.

This is why people get divorced. I can’t imagine going through retirement like this.

I totally get you. Get out of the house. Mine also wakes up early plus goes to toilet at night and the same, I cannot imagine going through retirement like this. I want to sleep in peace, sleep in if I can (and I should be able to on the weekends now that the kids are teens!) and not have to listen to you!

😂 💯 mine can’t stop talking when we watch movies. He talks to the tv and non stop commentary. My DD and I are like shhhhhhh!

He needs friends he can talk to and he needs to go out with them more often.

I would not be able to tolerate this, OP.

To me this seems like a very concerning loss of filter. I would explore thyroid issues (because some thyroid issues lead to anxiety), and also anxiety, depression and dementia.

Exactly which thyroid problems lead to dementia?

See... reading comprehension is important in your life, PP. Work on that.

What is he like when he is with friends, or other family? Does he talk "too much" with them, too?

Does he let you talk about your interests?

just scream "STFU" as loud as you can in his face. i promise you that will shut him down.

Yes get some headphones that can be a visual signal that you are doing something else. Even if that something else is listening to nothing.

This. Do it with a spouse, do it with kids. Inlaws, anyone. You are unavailable. No drama. A "signal" so others know you're unavailable.

And geeezzz, get out of the house more

I know you didn’t mean to connect the two, but untreated Graves’ disease can actually cause repercussions that mimic dementia.
