Friday, December 19th?

With the holidays basically here, I feel like attendance has to be super light. Curious what other families are doing — going in, taking the day off, or already in holiday mode?

Why stop there? What send your kids at all this week? Heck, why have we been sending them this month at all?

What a stupid question, OP.

I'm giving a test in my AP class and doing a project in my on level class. (I haaaate testing the day before break, but with all the holidays it's how the calendar fell this year--usually I try to finish up assessments by Wednesday).

I told kids if they knew they weren't going to be there to make plans to complete assignment before they left--I'm staying after school until 4:30 every day this week to give them the opportunity to get it done.

If they skip, they'll owe me the work after break and they will have forgotten it all and it's going to be a much lower grade.

Of course they are going to school. They already get a 16 day break, they don't need another day.

There is always a "last day". If they weren't in school Friday, would you have them skip Thursday?

Yes, they are going. There are tests.

Just like turn signals and stop signs, right?

Yes, they have two full weeks off after. Friday is a normal school day with normal work.

For years FCPS went to school until December 23 if Christmas was a Thursday or Friday. So yes. send your kid to school.

Feel sorry for their kid.

What does it matter what other people are doing?

Send your kid to school.

One kid has a 4 hour party on Friday and then FLE. I know because they asked parents to come help make and serve the food.

But why does it matter what anyone else is doing? Make your decision. If your kid is worried about being the only one or missing out, have them ask their friends what's happening. It's very school dependent.

This. But I’m under no illusions about that say, there will be no learning. She’s going for my convenience not her benefit.

A 4 hour party? That is kind of ridiculous. I am a teacher home sick and we have a party on Friday but it is one hour. We still have stuff to do!

I don't understand mommies like you who complain about the two hour early release for elementary schools but then when when there's not a 2 hour delay or they have a class party and movies and a fun day the Friday before winter break. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

Are you stupid? It's one of the most fun days of the year for elementary school kids, they love it!
