Same. No need to drive back multiple times!

NP. only for diagnostic mammos. they do have some slots for same-day followup scanning mammos but they are scheduling those for like march.

my pcp wanted me to have a diagnostic mammo and wrote a scrip for it, but bay decided i only needed a screening and would only schedule a screening. and i would have had to drive back out if they found anything, which kind of defeats the whole point.

it's all exhausting.

My screening mammograms there have all been read same-day. I’m sorry you had a bad experience!

I’ve only had good experiences at Georgetown, so recommend there.

I've always had good experiences at Virginia Hospital Center.

The radiologist who did my diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound was pretty dismissive when I mentioned I was anxious. The one who did my biopsy (different doc) wasn’t exactly empathetic either when she called with the bad news. But never mind the bedside manner, they made me wait over a weekend with the results even though they had them because they have a rule that only the doctor who did the biopsy can give you the result. And then, they made me come in in person to pick up a copy of the pathology report.

I’ve since had an MRI at Georgetown and such a world of difference. The images were uploaded a few days after the scan and I could see the report as soon as it was ready.

I hate Washington Radiology for the same reasons as PP, plus WRA missed my breast cancer.

I do like Medstar radiology - the doctors there are excellent, but the oncology and surgical side left a lot to be desired. Plus the Medstar portal is messed up and doctors regularly could not find outside imaging or testing I had shared, or imaging that was ordered by Medstar via a third party was never uploaded to the Medstar portal, or doctors called with biopsy results before written report was uploaded to patient portal, etc. - pretty hard to keep care coordinated at Georgetown, IMO.

But, again, I thought the radiology (MRI, ultrasound and biopsy) at Medstar Lafayette Ctr was excellent.

I also recently had a shockingly good experience at Medstar radiology (Chevy Chase). A doctor was there and reading the images right after they were taken. I didn’t realize it would be done that quickly. The whole process was seamless. I also recently had a very good experience with gynecological surgery with an excellent doctor at Medstar/Georgetown. They seem to be making a lot of improvements with facilities and expanding practices.

That said — my PCP with Medstar is great, but getting an appt and getting through their labyrinthine phone system is a complete nightmare. I’m seriously considering looking for another PCP, or maybe even going concierge at some point, because it is so impossible to get through to her.

My family has gone to the Breast Center at Sibley Hospital for years. No complaints.

And the radiologist is extraordinary. Really knows her stuff and excellent human skills.
