What is your 16 year old teen boy getting for xmas?

Mine picked out a funko pop, wooden puzzles, things to build… struggling as well on what to get him.
I got him a monthly 3-D printing subscription.
I’m thinking about board.fun. I’m on the fence about it. It’s a lot of money for something that only has 12 games, but he might be able to actually develop games.

MYOB.

Not all people are gift people. I never want anything, and I am kind of unhappy when people get me things that I don’t want or need. It feels wasteful to me, and actually causes me to feel bad. I tell everyone I just want to spend time with them. I say, next time you’re in town, let’s grab dinner or whatever! But still people buy me things. And so then I buy them things, because clearly that’s what they want. I am great with the holidays, but I don’t need more stuff.

Sometimes the kindest thing you can do for people is actually listen to what they want. Maybe the kid doesn’t want anything.

He’s a teen boy not a premenopausal middle aged sad sack.

It's not about that.
We don't celebrate christmas and my kids have always had more than enough shit. But during holiday time we always do something together instead of actual gifts.

Do you volunteer with him? Play board games? Do any kind of experience with him?

Sounds like a great kid.
Love these ideas.

Yeah board.fun is pricey for 12 games my kids liked it.

A laptop. He’s asking for one and I figure he’ll need one in 18 months for college anyway.

Other things he’s asked for: golf clubs, quarter zip, shoes, concert tickets, small jbl speaker, wide leg sweatpants, wallet - with cash for thrifting, electric razor, PS5 and some specific games. Other things I think he’d like: gift cards to top golf, or other places he could take friends, tickets sports games, Subscriptions - to Spotify, to an online game he likes to play, to MLB channel. My older boy at that age was really into cooking and music. Big presents over the years included a smoker, instrument, a subscription to butcher box, and a full size bed (big hit).

Oh, and they’ll both get a giant package of Nike socks. My boys love some new socks . They also get pretty excited about Costco-sized boxes of snack foods wrapped under the tree.

Teen boys definitely need things, they grow like weeds and need stuff for sports or to develop other interests. If there is any group of humans who actually need stuff, it's the teen boys and girls!! Once you reach middle age, sure, once you realize you're going to die sooner rather than later, it becomes a struggle to use all the stuff up you accumulated!
