The reason they never wanted to do income based affirmative action is because the majority of smart poor kids are rural whites. Those are the absolute last group of people that college administrators want to help. |
| My kid is at a title 1 high school, but we would be full pay. We live in a. Urban area, and our zip code includes houses that are $50k and houses that are $2 mil. Assuming schools are need blind, and the parents profession is not something like orthopedic surgeon, how can they tell if we are low income or not? |
Lawsuit time ! |
It gave us JD Vance. |
People who ignorantly regurgitate MAGA dogma from Fox News are the worst. Note that I don't love extreme wokeness and believe DEI went overboard. But MAGA virtue signaling that you are falling in line with the party line is worse. If Trump told you to stick your head up your butt you would do it. No questions asked. |
| Some level of diversity, be it economic, racial, etc. is good. Schools have gone overboard on all accounts. Ironically to the disadvantage of their alums as most college grads are the middle class who are getting hosed by all of this and legacy preference only goes so far - contrary to ignorant popular opinion, most college grads are middle class - we only hear about all the rich ones but they are the exception, not the rule, even at top ivies. |
| This will work out fine because a lot of rich whites don't want to send their kids to these schools just to subsidize other poor kids. They will be at large southern universities. |
Same for us. Parent profession would indicate a high income, but I didn’t think it was required to put on your application. My guess is if you are in fact low income, you will be filling out a FAFSA form. Those are the kids that will benefit |
Even the top AI guys say humanities/critical thinking is what is needed for AI jobs. |
You can solve for that by layering geo-coding. |
If you applied for FAFSA or marked that you will |
Yes. This explains why CS majors are getting out hired by those in the humanities now https://bigcloud.global/why-studying-humanities-and-arts-is-key-to-developing-artificial-intelligence/ |
Yep FAFSA. If you want a low income boost you can’t skip filling it out. That would out you. |
So much for everyone saying full pay was an advantage. |
There is no such thing as need blind. |
