This is shocking. What’s the composite score?
Anonymous wrote:Mine was 98% nonverbal, 95% verbal, 45% quant. Guess he gets his math skills from me lol!

Very high quantitative score and average score for the others. I know math is my child's strongest subject, but I'm still surprised by the huge gap between scores.

123. Honestly, he’s got ADHD and in general isn’t a great test taker. I’m honestly more surprised how high his verbal/nonverbals are.

We did the parent referral/application because his teacher recommended it, but I doubt he’ll be competitive enough to get in, esp with his ADHD. Maybe it’s for the best!

This is a new test for our area for grade 2. I’m guessing a lot of discrepancies. I know for the 3rd day, my child got sick at school and I had to pick up early after taking the test. That’s reflective in the lower score on that day. But can’t explain that on application.

Yeah given that so many of us have these test scores all over the place is concerning. I have two older kids who took the cogat and are in AAP and their scores were consistent across the board. How can a child get in the 90’s for two of the categories and low 50’s in the third?!

I think it may be because it was 3 different days too. Remember, they are like 7 years old. Each day, kids are different… tired… sick… etc.

True but as I said, I have two older kids and their scores were consistent across the board. I know of other friends too and their kids had similar scores for Cogat such as in the 90’s for all three or in the 80’s for all three categories. Wonder if something is off about this test.

130. Is there a cut off score for universal screening?

It’s new. Also, I do think there may be a lot of lower scores or discrepancies like this otherwise many more are on here bragging about their kids scores and comparing. I wonder what “in pool” looks like and also how the NNAT from last year is weighed?

No, you can parent refer at any score. No idea on “in pool” scores

Those are great scores. If you feel comfortable sharing, what was the composite? I'm wondering how high the raw scores trail upward.

Over 10,000 students took this test. Yet here you are making an assertion that because a handful of posters on the anonymous board have some differences in scores, there’s reason to be concerned.

Dear god. Do you hear how absurd you sound?

My kid’s scores were inconsistent in a surprising way, and what’s slightly frustrating about it is that there is very little info out there on this test. We don’t even have a percentile for the total score. I’m not even really sure what the verbal section consists of.

At the end of the day, it is what it is, but if this is the test that is used for the AAP evaluation one would hope we’d get some more disclosures about the test.
