GE is fast. Sometimes there might be 5 or 6 people in line and no one at MPC so it might occasionally be faster. The issue with MPC as a frequent traveler is that it is not at many airports. It is not that useful anywhere else. Plus it open to everyone and does not require any process which decreases the potential number of people using it. I always have GE but had to use MPC when I traveled with my elderly parents. We travel internationally a few times a year and think most I waited at GE was 5 minutes. |
MPC has expanded to pretty much every major airport in the past few years, including the Canadian airports and other places with Preclearance. https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/mobile-passport-control The only airports not on this list only have a small number of international arrivals, like Nashville or New Orleans. |
+1 same! |
| We've used MPC at Dulles and BWI and its been very helpful. Not quite as fast as Global Entry but much faster than regular. Totally worth it. |
I have global entry -- one time I used the mobile app in June returning and it was super fast. The last time I returned (early November this year) they were testing a new system that was insanely fast and wild. I walked up, they had a camera, I did not even have to stop, the CBP officer at a lectern said my name, and then said go ahead go through, welcome home. This is all from facial recognition....so I guess great? |
+1. GE has gotten incredibly faster with new system. It is amazing. |
| We used it earlier this week at IAD. It’s super easy to set up. DH actually did the download and setup pretty quickly while we were in the regular line (he usually gets frustrated by tedious admin tasks so that tells you it was straightforward), and we were then able to jump over to the short MPC line. Saved us a ton of time. |
| I flew back from Germany last week and don’t have global entry. It was great. We were through in less than 15 minutes and the other line seemed a lot longer. |
| Last couple of times I’ve done it, it’s been terrible. First time they literally had no one there to process people for 20 minutes. Second time was one person for the entire line and they were also doing the crew. Until the global entry line cleared out, it was a very long, very slow slog |

It was closed two weeks ago
|
| It was open last week |
It can be when it’s open. Thankfully the regular line wasn’t that bad because after I spent the time to fill it out and then it was closed, I was pissed. I think it’s one of the first things they close. |
| OP here. We used it a week ago and got through in 15 mins max. The regular line had over 100 people. So glad we did it. Thanks for the advice! |
