TCU, Sewanee, Tulane Popularity

TCU is very popular with our archetypical ‘jocks’ from affluent families as SMU has become a tougher direct admit for business.

Only a handful of kids apply to Tulane from our Catholic school, but the relative stats and acceptance rates posted earlier in this thread are similar to ours.

Interesting mix of schools here - all so different. TCU seems to me the best choice for a fun and lucrative college experience.

Sewanee has been underrated for a long time now.

Tulane 8k, and TCU, close to 11k undergrad enrollment. Both Tulane and TCU have D1 sports.

Sewanee was a founding member of the SEC.

That's not relevant now. Sewanee is D3.

Know they’re great schools but what types of students go there? What SAT/ ACT GPA do you need from a DMV private to get in?

These are MAGA kids going to these schools located in MAGA states.

Hard pass!

Ignore the negative posters. We are from the DMV and moved to a large city in the South a number of years ago. DC went to Tulane and loved it.

They aren’t great. Why do people need to call schools for mediocre students great?

As someone with actual experience at Tulane, you are completely ignorant. Tulane is a R1 university that is doing so much on the research front. There are so many opportunities for students at Tulane. It has friendly, happy, and smart kids. Not medicore at all.

My kid’s private school regularly sends great kids to Tulane, SMU and Sewanee. Great students, well-rounded, nice caring kids who contribute to campus life. They’re not mediocre by any standard.

I am holding on for dear life, I will pay for the weather and ignore the rest of the problems. This is just the start.

Comical…they have “bailed” because they can’t get into UC schools or of course Stanford, which now receive 165,000+ applications for UCLA as example and are by far the most applied to colleges.

At our DMV UMC public…Tulane yes…the other two, few kids have applied and zero attended the last three years.

All three of these are more popular with the private school crowd who don’t flinch at spending $85K a year.

Again…Tulane is popular as well as schools like wake and Miami…easily 50% of the HS is probably full pay for college.

Why Sewanee should register is a ? Why go to a random school with D3 sports in the middle of nowhere TN…Washington & Lee has better outcomes and is closer.

Agreed. I’m trying to sell my private school kid on both Tulane and TCU. DC wants a larger school, sports and warm weather, and I’m not convinced a big public would be a good fit for this kid.

TCU commonly gives merit discounts. Don't know about the other two.

Sewanee being a small LAC is a very different atmosphere than TCU and Tulane.
