| I’ve already heard of so many kids going to these schools now from the area, and in North Carolina where my brothers kids go, whereas I don’t think a single kid from my oldest’s class went 10 years ago. Know they’re great schools but what types of students go there? What SAT/ ACT GPA do you need from a DMV private to get in? |
|
sewanee is hot this year.
think they have some new admissions ppl other two have been hot for a while. |
|
Here are the stats for these schools from DC’s DMV private over the past 4 years:
TCU: 14 applied, 12 accepted. For the admitted students, the SAT range is 1170-1430, average of 1325; GPA range is 3.14-3.96, average of 3.5. Sewanee: 2 applied, 2 accepted. Average SAT = 1435, average GPA = 3.5 Tulane: 57 applied, 22 accepted. For the admitted students, the SAT range is 1180-1570, average of 1370; GPA range is 3.13-4.29, average GPA = 3.7 As a reference, the average GPA of the graduating class is typically around 3.7. |
Apologies, 22 should be 32 accepted for Tulane. |
|
Sewanee just produced another Rhodes scholar, a few weeks ago. One of the few LACs
to do that this year. A Virginia resident, she’s a physics major. |
| These are all very popular for kids at our private school in Texas. DS applied to Sewanee but was accepted to an out-of-state SEC school that is his top choice. When I was growing up TCU was a safety. Now it’s first choice for tons of smart kids. I don’t think any of these schools are terribly difficult to get into if you come from a private school they know, ED and full pay. If you apply regular admissions and need aid, admission is fairlu difficult. |
Rich students who are relatively social. From Louisiana/TX/the South, and from the NE -- especially NYC and surrounding environs. -- source: I went to law school there. FWIW, I loved it. |
Sorry, should have specified that I meant Tulane. PP |
Southern schools for average kids. What's there not to like? |
| Sewanee and other schools in the south are hot because of the demographic shift of people dumping the NE and CA. Everyone I know in LA has bailed and went to Texas or TN. I am holding on for dear life, I will pay for the weather and ignore the rest of the problems. This is just the start. |

This is why Americans has given the finger to our own institutions. Read this…..

Sewanee is very different from the other two, with an undergrad enrollment of only 1700.
Tulane 8k, and TCU, close to 11k undergrad enrollment. Both Tulane and TCU have D1 sports. |
They aren’t great. Why do people need to call schools for mediocre students great? |
I don't think you know what this word means. |
| Mediocre? You are a sad, pathetic, twit. We don’t want you, or your children, coming to our states and schools. Please stay above the Mason Dixon line and do us a favor. More graduates of your elitist colleges have started wars, bankrupt the economy, and conducted more harm on the world than any of the schools mentioned above. |
