I haven’t been to a Safeway in years - not a pleasant store, bad produce, and high prices.

Amazon Fresh is improving — with more consistent stock, better produce, and generally very good prices. They often have the exact same products that are in Whole Foods for significantly less. I’d never be able to do all of my grocery shopping at Amazon Fresh, but it’s a good first stop, then Wegman’s , Trader Joe’s or Giant for whatever Amazon Fresh doesn’t have.

They’re along the lines of Aldi & Lidl
Also don’t live close to one

Wegmans, TJ’s, Harris T & Walmart work better for our needs.

They fired/pushed out almost all of the leadership that originally launched it and things have been improving. Just a lot of absolutely awful hires in the beginning.

I shop there (or order online) frequently, supplement with WF and TJ's, and try to avoid Giant/Safeway whenever possible. I love Wegmans but it's too far

Interesting. I went to the one in Falls church and it was awful. Empty shelves, a lot of food looked spoiled. The carts locked up in the parking lot before I got to my car that was in the parking lot.

I use two location and both are well stocked, Amazon fresh is best discount grocery around, the price is best. Produce is better quality vs Aldi/lidl.

On top of the good prices, I use the coupons that give $12 off every 40. Coupon can be reused multiple times per day. Hint hint

I get my groceries almost exclusively delivered since COVID and no longer shop in the stores, but on the few times I've been in an Amazon Fresh store I've wanted to slit my wrists. They are SO DEPRESSING. Cinder block construction, no windows, loud whole-building fans. Just zero warmth and humanity in any of them. Delivery is okay though.

I’ve given up on Whole Foods fruit after getting strawberries with maggots (1x) and black caterpillar like worms (3x). This is across their Navy Yard and FCC locations. Never had that issue with Amazon Fresh which is surprising given I’m assuming it’s the same suppliers? But alas…

Safeway (not necessarily any around Shady Grove) is quiet these days. Fresh didn't have items in stock days we visited.

It's good for dry goods. I would never eat meat or produce from one.
