Stay in dc or relocate to headquarters in lesser cost area?

| I wouldn’t move an 11th grader that’s rough and I’m saying this as someone who moved a kid at the start of high school. That was already really hard. Either you move ahead of the family grab an apartment and split time between two locations for two years or you say no not now. |

There would have to be much better reasons than personal fulfillment or lower COL.
We are not from here but have been for over 10 years. This is the only home my kids have really known. It isn’t perfect but it’s pretty good, we do know our neighbors, and the kids are attached to their school and friends. Wait until the kids are in college. Doesn’t seem worth it to uproot them for this job. |

I'd move. Clearly the cost of living in DC is an issue. |
