What about Talbots? Is that also a store that tends to favor older shoppers? Thanks! |
Talbots has just been updated and they have some nice things now. |
Let's just say it: J.Jill, Chico's, and Coldwater Creek are for older women who are a little or a lot overweight. Frumpy, loud prints, nothing with a waistline, and loose fitting. |
OK, I get it, I get it. But these were the pants I was talking about: http://www.jjill.com/jjillonline/product/itempage.aspx?BID=S2010284204657C575C12664424588B1793B&item=FC005F&h=M&sk=M&ac=search Frumpy or not, that can be your call. But these didn't have a loud print, they had a waistline, and they weren't loose fitting. |

JJill isn't like this. Lots of waistlines, no loud prints AT ALL, lots of muted colors. |
I have some pants of theirs and they aren't frumpy. Look through their stuff - you can find nice pieces. Not everything is frumpy. |
The depiction of JJill on this thread is not the JJill I know. For mature consumers, yes; frumpy, no! More of a less expensive Eileen Fisher look. Casual but elegant. And age appropriate. |
OP, if you are thin, then JJill may work well for you because, frankly, you can look good in just about anything. For more average figures, you have to be more careful. |
XXSP sizes there too-great for the short, small set who need to find work clothes.
Good work clothes for non-lawyer tailoring. |
I'm sorry but I still think Talbots is very matronly and also in the Coldwater Creek category? Anyone agree? |
Have you been to the new Talbots at Tysons? There are still some frumpy things but there is apt of great stuff now. |
Linda Evangelista is rockin' in that new ad campaign! |
Okay so I will give Talbots another try, but someone chime in here---a few years ago it was on the boring side? |
Okay, so where should an almost 50 yo, no longer slim-but not really heavy- woman shop? |
When I think of Talbot's I think of nice 60 year old ladies with short, frosted hair who wear green polos and white and green capri pants. |
