| I'd put out a message on buy nothing or church or neighborhood groups and ask to borrow the stuff. |
| Target is great for order pickup from your car. |
| Link to other thread pls! |

Swaddles (Ollie great)
Burp cloths Blankets Health kit (thermometer etc) or thermometer Separately Formula (no judgement either way and actually don’t get that for them but they should have on hand gently encouraged by a close family member if newborn doesn’t gain weight) |
| Second the Dreft newborn detergent |
|
Dreft and other scented newborn detergents are a bad idea. I don’t know why so many new moms get caught up in the Dreft hype. Normal free-and-clear for the entire household works just fine. (Because remember, baby is going to be on/held by mom and dad. Are they washing their clothes (and sheets, etc.) in Dreft too?
Infant bucket. Affordable pack and play. Changing mat. Diapers and wipes. A new wooden train set for the toddler. I assume everything else they need is at home, and that this is a full-term birth to organized, responsible parents. |

You can DoorDash one from Target. I did this twice! |
| Definitely post in the local buy nothing or Nextdoor group. I guarantee there are people there who are just at the end of that phase and looking to offload baby gear or car seats. |
OP here, This one too: https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/1303241.page To answer the questions, baby is slightly premature, 36 weeks. Everyone is doing pretty well but baby is still figuring out to regulate temperature and blood sugar so discharge isn't guaranteed for Friday. But they want to be ready if it happens. They have a pack and play where they are, and almost all the things back home from older sibling. They're staying with mom's mother who is great, so they have some support, and older sibling is happy and well cared for. Plus since it's her mom, it might be less awkward for her than being with IL's. Mom EBF the older sibling, and was planning to try to do so here too, but baby had formula this a.m.. They should be able to get a short term pump rental from the hospital, since they have a pump waiting at home. Anyway, she'll probably need both sets of stuff. I was thinking I'd just get those little 2 oz bottles of formula so they don't have to wash bottles, but waiting to hear what brand/type worked in the hospital. |

OP here,
If mom is pumping when they leave the hospital, what does she need for that? |
| Swaddles and pacifiers and diapers. A few onsies. Have none of you people ever had a baby??? |
She will need bottles, and ideally a bottle sterilizer. Get the slow flow nipples made for newborns. Obviously, a pump. |
| We last minute adopted. Diapers, burp clothes, clothing, pacifier, the 2-ounce ready-to-feed formula with tons of nipples, car seat, snap and go stroller, pack and play and bouncy seat or swing. |
Do those sterilizer bags work for this? |
