Commerical advertising through MCPS email

They at least put in the emails “this trip is not sponsored by MCPS”. I don’t appreciate they are taking advantage of access to the full parent email database.

Some of these teachers have a hard enough time doing their first job. They shouldn’t be wasting time trying to get themselves a free trip abroad.

How is MCPS not liable if these trips are advertised through the school email platform?

That's the PTSA's email platform, not the school's. And of course teachers are members of the PTSA.

The are ALSO sent from the teachers via the school platform, not the PTSA platform.

You mean ParentVue? No, I've never seen them there.

We got one last week about pianos, some kind of deal with a local piano company.

The piano advertising is for resale of used pianos that get cycled out of schools. It’s a partnership between the company and MCPS.

yes, exactly that. if this is the sort of "commercial advertising" that PP is worried about, let's not get too worked up here. Schaefers has had a deal with MCPS where they offer discounts on used pianos to families and about once a year MCPS distributes a flyer about it. We bought one last year - got a great deal on a piano that was very lightly used. I highly recommend it if you're in the market.

We also get emails for those middle school trips but I ignore them.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the Jostens email? I swear I never signed up, and I click unsubscribe each time I get an email asking me to buy the yearbook, which is pretty much weekly, but it never goes away. I guess I could just block them....
