A beer or two at a ball game is not a crisis. |
| One problem is that tailgating leads to a full parking lot but no one watching the game. So other schools are looking for ways to get people to transition. |
| Is Rice a good football team this year? |
This is the stupidest conclusion ever. How about getting your team to win? Them people will come. |
No, but North Texas is. This game happened yesterday and Rice got stomped (in front of a bit better than average attendance) |
| If top schools don’t want nerds then the nerds will go to their state flagship and raise/maintain the academic standards there. |
I know, right? But OP wants their narrative at all costs. |
A lot of students who don’t grow up where Football is watched or played won’t be showing up to football games. They have increased the number if international students and students from outside Texas. Many immigrant and first gen students don’t grow up with the college football tradition. So it often has nothing to do with winning. |
| If top schools don't want nerds, then simple. Bring down your admission standards. If your acceptance rate is less than 15%, you'll get lots of nerds. 40-50% acceptance rate is where you'll get a nice balance of smart and social kids. |
| College students like beer. Stop the presses!! |
| Nerds and Beer are not mutually exclusive |
| OP COULD have mentioned that this is a gambit by Rice to get students to show up in the stadium and that it is for 21 and older only . . . but she didn't |
| Don’t understand this board’s hostility to nerds or strivers. Wonder if social media has made people carry this “vision” of what they think college “should” be versus what it actually is. |
This is just plain stupid. On top of the troll like stupid subject line you chose to use. Their team sucks, don't you get it? Are they not participating in other aspects of campus life? |
This board is full of maga. |
