What do you make of Jennifer Lawrence and do you think she's still relevant?

I never thought she was a particularly good actress and she’s average looking. I remember reading at the time that Harvey Weinstein gave her her start and made her famous and now we all know how Harvey chose who he was going to promote.

Why are the looks so important? Some of the best actresses are average looking. I’ll take them over a pretty face who sounds wooden and has no range.

OP - that’s not what I said at all, jfc, and I should’ve known better because these threads always draw out both extreme misogynists AND psychotic defenders who treat any discussion of her career as sexist and can’t stand that someone might have mixed feelings about a performer.

I like her work, and very much think she should be allowed to exist. I literally pointed out which of her movies I like and how I think some of them should have been bigger. I was just wondering if she’s declining in relevancy, even though some of her peers have hits that have managed to strike a chord with the public (like Emma Stone’s filmography.)

I know it’s very hard for you to understand nuance, so I’ll leave this post on a positive note, lest you continue putting words in my mouth.

It’s disappointing some of her movies haven’t been bigger hits, but I do think she’s building up a body of work she should be proud of. Die My Love didn’t do well at the box office, but people are singling out her performance as excellent

I think she’s a million times more talented than Julia Roberts or Jennifer Aniston, and they’ve both had long, successful careers and relevance.

I love her, both personally and as an actress. She is hilarious in interviews and very down to earth. My favorite roles were in Winter's Bone, No Hard Feelings (talk about range, between those two roles!), Joy, and American Hustle.

I loved her in American Hustle !! She was amazing.

I always get confused by "Passengers" and have to remember it's the space ship movie and not the movie by the same title with Anne Hathaway and Patrick Wilson, which is also an interesting watch.

I haven't seen her in much lately, though, I was just watching a series called The Last Frontier on Apple and for a whole episode I was thinking it might be her but ultimately realized it was Haley Bennett.
