Fair question for OP.

Were you born male or female?

I had assumed I would deliver at the Catholic hospital since it’s where my OB prefers to deliver. It’s also where my sister delivered several years ago, and she had a great experience there. However this particular hospital was NOT a Catholic hospital at the time that my sister delivered there. It was acquired by Ascension within the past couple of years. I guess I hadn’t fully appreciated what the implications of this recent acquisition might mean for patient care until the past few weeks. I’m now wondering if I should opt for the other hospital.

I wouldn’t choose to go to a Catholic hospital with a suspected ectopic pregnancy. I understand how hospital policy might result in staff delaying necessary care in order to establish that a pregnancy is truly non-viable in that situation. What I’m less clear on is what the specific concerns are when it comes to delivering what will likely be a full-term baby in a Catholic hospital. I am going to have a conversation with my OB about this this week, but are there specific complications or procedures that might be handled differently in a Catholic hospital?

I am not interested in having my tubes tied in the event that I end up needing a C-section, so the availability of that procedure is not going to impact my decision. (I also have heard that some providers are willing to perform tubal ligations at this particular hospital.)

I may be naive in this Supreme Court era, but medically I think there's zero discussion about an ectopic pregnancy being viable
