I was standing there when a half dozen medics boarded and triaged the most seriously injured. Those things aren’t that big. |
Ignore this as$hat. Thank you for posting OP! What a crazy thing to happen! |
A colleague’s son was killed about 15 years ago by one of these. He was driving a luggage cart. Changes were made but they are still dangerous apparently. |
That's terrible. I'm sorry. |
Thank you. It was crazy. One second we’re moving along, the next we come to a dead stop and people are flying around like rag dolls. People came together and checked on each other. There was a flight attendant on the ground by my feet. I watched one guy who hit his head just kinda drop. One of those hand poles came completely loose from the bottom. We had to wait a while for the emergency personnel to come get us. The not-really injured were taking care of the injured. That part was kinda heartwarming actually. |
So sorry you experienced this. Happy to hear people stepped up and were kind. We need more of that nowadays. Hope you heal quickly; |
| What a crazy thing to have happened. I’m glad that you’re ok. It’s heartwarming that people helped one another but certainly must have been a shock! I hope all recover well. Scary! |
| Have the ambulance chasers arrived yet? |
Yes, that thing is the worst. |
| I was on one last month that came to a screeching halt while crossing the tarmac because a truck was passing in front of us. People nearly went flying. I wonder how many near misses they've had before this. |
|
It makes me so uncomfortable how tight they cram you in there. Even if you kept your own balance, you can’t control other people slamming into you.
So scary. |
| Why did the moon rover crash? Vehicle malfunction? Impaired driver? |

According to the news, 18 people went to the hospital and only 50 on board. OP you are lucky then.
"The mobile lounge at around 4:30 p.m. was moving passengers from an arriving flight to Concourse D when it struck the building dock at an angle, according to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. Eighteen people were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, while others were evaluated by Airports Authority Fire and Rescue officials, according to a spokesperson. There were roughly 50 people onboard the people-mover at the time, according to dispatch audio from Broadcastify." |

I had no idea those bus things were so dangerous...
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/11/10/us/dulles-airport-crash-mobile-lounge.html The mobile lounges have come under fire in the past. A 2017 investigation by NBC4 Washington found that the mobile lounges, also called people movers, had been involved in at least 16 collisions or mishaps since 2007, including one fatal accident and others that caused injuries. |
Op here. Yea, I’m at the ER at my destination now. They took the people who could walk off of it and into the building. We filled out police reports. They were treating the more seriously injured people, so I knew it would be a while before I was seen. I decided to just fly but it definitely started hurting a lot on the plane. Apparently I have a hematoma and they are giving me pain meds. I’d say everyone had some sort of injury. |
