I'm guessing most of those white spots are athletes or legacies. I know a major metro area white kid who got in (they had a distant hook but probably didn't move the needle). But they are pretty rare.

Obama wasn't Hawaiian. he's biracial. or this is how you self-identify, so maybe black. which seems fair.

I agree that in his case he would likely identify as multi-racial. But couldn't a 100% white kid from Hawaii claim to be Hawaiian?

Kind of like how a white person who lived most of their life in Africa theoretically is "African-American?" I don't know how precisely they define this but I think they could say that with a straight face.

I hate Trump and I hate how he is dealing with this but I can't wait for the day when all of these boxes go away.

no. my husband is from morocco. my kid, while 1/2 "African", is not African American. Likewise, Elon Musk is not "African-American". Hawaiian is an indigineous ethinicity

Are they that specific in defining it when presenting the box? I think you can check the box with a straight face unless they are very specific. On a similar note, what percentage of a certain background do you need to be to qualify? 1/4? 1/8?

No, they could not. Hawaiian/Pacific islander is an ethnicity, not a geographic indicator.

french Montana is Moroccan and he has the n-pass so your kid does as well...
...which makes him african-american.

They haven't explicitly defined african-american as 'ados'

Didn't see a thread made about princeton's class of 2029 demographics so dropping it here. Interesting mix.

5% of blacks at the top colleges is the average.

Nothing new.

Did you understand the intent? If so, stop complaining. And BTW, not all Hispanics are technically LatinX. I’m speaking from personal experience. Do better!

You are not going to be successful in having people adopt terms like this by screaming, unknown variable x linguistics issues aside.

Domestic Asians is actually higher than white given that the “unknown” category has a significant domestic Asian proportion.

i'm surprised the white number is that high considering the word has been out for quite some time how hard Princeton is when you attend.
