My kid's SAT scores went down as well and we will be disclosing it begrudgingly. |
My kid got in with a total SAT score in low 1400s, but with an almost perfect score on the section that was most relevant to DC’s major. DC got the same result all three times DC took the test. We submitted all scores. GU looks at scores holistically. Teach your student to be honest and proud of their achievements and submit all scores. Not submitting all scores even when instructed to reached your kids some pretty terrible lessons. |
And if you snitched on that kid to Georgetown, they would have rejected him and called his guidance counselor. Not sure why parents are teaching kids to lie. |
NP. My understanding is that Georgetown will be able to tell from the official College Board score report whether the student selected All Scores or used Score Choice. I don't think Georgetown will know about the ACT. |

I think the university will be able to see if you sent the "Score Choice" SAT score or the generic report with all scores. The Score Choice costs more and I think it would probably somehow be labeled differently on the university's end. They won't be able to see how many sittings (guessing here) but they'd see that you chose to pay more for the Score Choice option. They won't ever know if you also took the ACT and didn't report. How could they?
Does Gtown actually ask for all sittings of all tests? My kid applied years ago and the two scores (ACT and SAT) were pretty similar so submitted both everywhere. But I thought we looked at Gtown and the careful reading of their request was all sittings of either test. Is that not the case? |
DC emailed ans asked. The answer was GU wanted all. |
College Board reports for all scores vs score choice cost the same. I agree that the university is likely to be able to see whether the report is all scores vs score choice. Gtown does, in fact, ask for all sittings of all SAT and ACT. They have been asking for that since forever. The wording on their website ("and/or SAT subject test scores") has some arguing that applicants don't need to submit both SAT and ACT, though in my opinion such a reading is a stretch. "Georgetown does not participate in Score Choice and requires submission of each applicant’s complete testing record, including all SAT, ACT, and/or SAT Subject test scores. We remain firmly committed to a comprehensive and holistic review of all applications, and test scores are considered in their appropriate context." https://uadmissions.georgetown.edu/applying/preparation-process/ |
Yeah, there's no gray area here. Only shady college consultants and parents teaching their kids to lie. |
What’s wrong with college consultants? It’s not breaking any laws or rules to hire one. |
It’s the SHADY ones that are not good. |
100%. -parent of unhooked kids at ivies who did not lie on anything |
DP. What's wrong is only the particular consultant referenced in the OP, who advises flouting Georgetown's application requirements. |
+1. Learn to read. |
I would never snitch on a kid to a college or the college counselor. It just doesn’t seem like good karma. I just mentioned the selective reporting to Georgetown because I think it is way more common than people think! |
