Iron insufficiency

Anonymous
I had an infusion a few years ago (a series of two about one week apart) and I felt so much better for several months after. I need to go back to my doctor and ask for another round - I have had a full GI work-up and nothing is wrong there, I do have celiac and heavy periods and the recommendation is to get a hysterectomy but I have mixed feelings about that (not in menopause but also not having more kids) so for now I think iron infusions are the best approach to my persistent anemia.

OP if your periods are still heavy, ask for a pelvic ultrasound.
We discovered my endometrial cancer that way and with a biopsy. I did iron iv and then supplements to get me ready for surgery. It was incredible how my energy came back.

Cook using a cast iron frying pan

Take iron and get your TSH checked.

What is your ferritin level that you are considering low? Truly anemic, or in the suboptimal, but normal range?

Was surgery enough for you or did you undergo chemo, etc?
