That’s a no to the hooker look.

Short skirts and crop tops are pretty normal for teens, even the ones on the young side, even if you want to clutch your pearls about them. I would say no to school, but yes to after school--it's Halloween after all (but yes, she will want tights--it's not supposed to be warm tomorrow).

Your daughter sounds awesome. I hope she has fun, whatever she ends up doing.

They aren't normal for teens. Do you see many 13 year old boys out in teeny tiny micro mini shorts? No. Most would be embarrassed and refuse to wear them. Why? Because parents don't raise their boys to put their bodies forward and to see their value as being in exposing their body. Parents are raising their boys to have confidence in who they are, and raising their girls to use their bodies and looks for confidence. Hence they buy them and send them out in skimpy clothes, spend a lot of money on beauty products for them, and basically raise them with the values and beliefs that make them believe their bodies are their main asset they have to offer the world.

Yes, it's not normal for teen boys. But like it or not, it is normal for many teenage girls. I can look with horror at the skimpy bandage dresses nearly every teenage girl wears at school dances, and wish it were not that way, but this is not something I can change. Wearing a micro mini skirt on Halloween is certainly not the hill I would choose to die on as a parent.

I would let her wear the skirt and take her to Logan Circle and leave her there for a few minutes.

You sound about 100 years old with this dated reference. What do you think the gay kickball boys and Patagonia wearing dog moms are going to do to her in Logan Circle? Give her a coat and take her for a hot chocolate at Le Dip?

Why would you look in horror if you raised your daughter to lead with her body and show it off. Unlikely she bought that skimpy dress on her own. If that is the dress you bought for her, you reinforce the message that her body is where her value is.

Only if you’re raised by nasty trash.

it's halloween all the teen girls dress like hoes.

It looked bad with the shorts and the tights. I mean if she bends its going to look trashy.

I just gave up and told her okay but she is acting like a drama queen now.

Did it look better with thong underwear? I think mothers need to start early in talking about clothing. What length skirt looks the best on her. Not to worry about what everyone else is wearing. If your skirt will be on the shorter side you shouldn’t wear a tight shirt. Little fashion tips.

I love empire waist dresses they are so flattering. Keep the updo current, not severe. Beautiful makeup and she will stand out to those nasty SHEIN dresses and in a good way.

How old is she? By young teen do you mean 13 or 14? This is a pretty typical look. Tell her to put a pair of shorts like the Nike pros or similar under it. Otherwise she’s going to take the skirt in her backpack and change at school anyway. They wear these skirts on any normal day to school. -hs teacher

Be the parent they need and say NO. They are testing you and want to know you’ll protect them.
No to the ridiculous skirt.
