Mexico City is a great idea. We went to Mexico last year the day after Christmas with our college-aged kids and started in Mexico City (then went to several other places to do adventure things, not the beach).
Mexico City is really interesting and you could easily spend several days there. I highly recommend doing a hot air balloon ride over the pyramids. The archeology museum is amazing. It's a 4 hour flight with lots of direct options. There are tons of hotels so prices aren't crazy. |
