Ok, Secretive Sam. Nobody here can tell you much unless you name the actual sport.

And btw, I don't know why you wouldn't just name the sport. There are a ton of highly ranked players of all sports in private and public schools around here; you won't be identify able.

That helps narrow it down, sort of. Is your son an 8th grader or 7th? If 7th you have more time. If 8th, start reaching out to admissions. Also, son’s current coach probably knows the coaches at the schools and can help get in touch with coaches at the schools.

I know the Catholic school universe, so can’t speak to the non-Catholic privates. You’ll want to focus on the schools in the WCAC for the mainstream, popular sports. Gonzaga, SJC, GC, and PVI tend to be the powerhouses for the popular mainstream sports.

I know lots of young people who have made the transition from public school to Catholic for HS, but you need to understand that the admissions office focus is moving more and more to the Catholic feeder schools for entry and even the big schools are getting record numbers of applicants and have had a hard time judging and estimating yield in recent years, so each admissions cycle is unique.

The sports academies are will be having the most dominant athletics moving forward. Catholic schools used to be the best, but there is a transition going on right now.
