Which private high school would be the best fit for a student-athlete (boy)with strong academic performance coming from a public school?
Thanks! |
What sport, boo? |
Any of them |
What is easier commute? DC? VA? MD? |
| The sport matters. At some schools, he won’t have any chance of making you JV depending on the sport. |
| SJC |
| The one they get into. Admissions from a public school is a crap shoot. |

| It depends on sport and if recruited or not. |
+1. For some sports and at some schools, there is a good chance your kid won’t make the team or won’t play if not recruited. So a smaller school with more opportunities to play might be a better option. You need to give more information to get meaningful advice. |
| OP here — my DS is nationally ranked in a popular sport that most schools offer. |
| You can look at rankings for Catholic HSs in the area at the WCAC website. I would also hit Open House and talk to coaches. FYI- if you DC is nationally ranked, many of these coaches will be aware of DC. |
Then you probably want to go to a school that has a strong team in that sport, right? We can't make suggestions unless we know what sport. The possible schools will be different if the sport is cross country vs football. |
Catholic schools tend to be the strongest in most sports around here. |
Ok, Secretive Sam. Nobody here can tell you much unless you name the actual sport. |
