| In my 50s. Never wore them previously but wear them now. They are well made and the kind of shoe I'm looking for. They are heavy but that's not a problem for me. |
They have been around for 100 years. Very common in the UK and Europe. Still very popular in the US, though more limited in styles. |
They never really were lady shoes. Girls started wearing them in the skinhead/punk music era though, and continued to be popular with women through the 2000s. More of a man's shoe, but women still are able to wear them. Now Birkenstocks are old cat lady Karen shoes for sure. Also "nurse's" shoes are considered old lady shoes, with the solid thick cushioned soles. Perhaps that's what you meant. |
Exactly. DM’s aren’t older woman-coded. The shoes that are: Danskos, even the “cute” styles. Closed-toe Birkenstock styles. Anything by Ecco. “Cute” “funky” boots by Pikolinos or that hideous western Steve Madden company. Most of the 2-inch and lower heeled styles at DSW. And the one style of Blundstones with the gradient elastic panel; the solid panels don’t read old. This does not apply to Hokas, Salomon’s, Adidas, or Converse even if the patterns are hideous and the comfort is amazing. |

I wear them and I’m 52
I wore a pair of Vans the other day and was told they make me look young, lol. Don’t care. I wear what I like. |
| 42. Doc Martin Chelsea boots are my fall/winter uniform. |
| I couldn’t afford them back in the day and am super tempted to get some to wear with my wide leg jeans! |
| You can wear whatever you want and like....Docs are awesome, heavy , but amazing! I'm 61 and still wear with jeans or maxi skirts . |
| I'm 40 and do not care what others think thank G*d! |
| They are just normal-looking shoes, where the stitching on the sole is a contrasting color. What's the big deal? |
I saved up for my oxbloods and wore them out so hard. I'd get a new pair but they are so cheap now. I don't know what Delia Days are. They remind me of my lollapalooza days. |
| It's rather tacky. Maybe look for a better made boot. |
|
Birks, Docs, Uggs -- One in the same Yes you can still wear em' |
Like what? |
What is a Delia day? |
