Experience with Title IX grievance process?

The incident may or may not be “frivolous.” The message you send to your kid is important. The adult sexual harassers started their sexual harassment long before they became adults. Kids have to be taught from the beginning what is acceptable behavior - no matter how “minor” the incident is. Parents/guardians need to be having these conversations with their kids - using age-appropriate language and concepts, of course. The DCUM consensus to just ignore the whole thing is frigtening and dangerous. And it is why we are in a mess in this country today. Everybody needs to do their part.

Everyone needs to do their part, including the school system in ensuring that responses are age-appropriate and effective. Starting an adversarial star chamber investigation in response to a rumor or small incident pretty much destroys the chance to teach kids at an appropriate level.

From a previous message: “ The family is disciplining at home.”. It appears that the family is dealing with it but does not want it to get blown out of proportion and harm their child’s future.

OP. yes, it was from CARES. Zero explanation about the process and potential outcomes. Inclined not to allow the child to be interviewed.

Lawyer up whenever title IX is mentioned, in any setting.

Since we do not know what the incident is, how do you know it is “minor” and should not be investigated? And - schools have very specific requirements and little flexibility under Title IX that this administration put in place.
