SAME. I eat so healthy and count points or calories, don’t drink alcohol or really much calories at all, drink bland coffee Instead of the sugar I want, balanced produce protein etc….still 25lbs overweight despite being so good. Everyone at work orders lunch and gets delicious smelling food and I have my salad with lentils… I am happy for them. I have a preexisting condition that makes it unwise to go on weight loss meds. Oh well. |
| How many threads about this do we need? |
NP. It is SO cheap. I get mine from Fifty410. The cost for a 4 week supply is the same no matter the doseage, so I just said I need a 15 mg dose and got 60 mg for $299. I lost 25 lbs this year never going above 2.5 mg, and now I'm on 0.75/week for maintenance. Thus, this $299 vial of 60 mg of tirzepatide will last me until it expires next May. I am so happy I took the leap. I was just talking to my son's teacher who complained about her menopausal weight gain and said "But I don't want to take those drugs. I'm sure I wouldn't qualify anyway, and I heard there are side effects..." I never share with anyone in real life that I'm on a GLP-1, so I didn't say anything, but I did think, lady, you are missing out. I truly wish I would've had this med for the past thirty years I spent hating myself, fighting with myself about eating, fighting hunger, exercising like mad in an effort to get rid of what I ate. The med is a miracle. |
Lots of sites. I don’t want to be accused of being a shill. It is a prescription but easy to get that for free when you buy. I use ozempic. Tirz is more expensive. |
| Do you actually know they lost the weight on meds or are you just speculating? Maybe they put in the work and did it the old fashioned way. I lost about 65lbs without any meds and I’m sure lots of people assume I take Glp-1s. Instead, I just gave up all sugar and junk food, walk 10k+ steps a day, and eat a boring diet of lean meats, bone broths, fruits and vegetables. Its hard, but I’m back to my high school size at 42 and so much healthier. |
Yes bc they are middle aged women who lost weight very fast. Some talk about it and some don’t. |
| I’m on it. The thing is, for me, it’s really not about weight loss. I’ve been counting calories since I was 15. That’s 25 years of counting calories and fighting my weight up and down. What this did for me was finally give me PEACE. Peace to eat whatever I’m going to eat, in a portion that is the amount I actually want, without second-guessing. |
You know that is a side effect of the medicine right? Being tired? |
| Everyone has different side effects so being tired might be one that you’d also have, but there’s really no way to know. Maybe you won’t have any side effects other than appetite suppression. If you want to try it, talk to your doctor and figure out how to clean up your diet so you have a chance of maintaining new lower weight once you lose. If you are unwilling to potentially have side effects of any kind, don’t take it and be okay with others making a different choice. |
You still don’t know. The average weight loss on Zepbound is typical of someone really trying and successfully doing it on their own: 1-2 pounds per week and about a total of 15-22% of their starting weight in 72 weeks. You can guess but you don’t know. The initial weight loss happens naturally or with help for usually months without people noticing so it may appear fast to you but on average it isn’t any faster than what could happen naturally with work. |
I know. You're really a tiny minority at this point. There is no shame in doing the weight loss drugs. Not saying some people do not do it your way, but it would be extraordinary for a 50+yo woman to lose more than 30lbs in 4 months. |
| I wish my spouse would just do it. |
A 50+ year old woman should be focused on building muscle. The drugs cause muscle loss. 30 lbs in 4 months is way too fast and far from ideal. Not saying the drugs aren't beneficial, they most certainly are for some. But if I can, I'd much, much rather commit to diet and exercise. |
| Not jealous at all. I'm proud of my friends who choose to prioritize their healthy by managing their stress, exercising, hydrating, and resting. If anything it's motivating to be in their company especially when it's not all they talk about. Now when it's your whole personality, it's annoying. |
Sure, but diet and exercise aren't going to lead to weight loss in middle age unless you drastically reduce calories. That's very hard and most people cannot commit on the level you describe which is really brutal. The drugs make it so much eaiser. |
