How was the Oct 8, 2025 PSAT?

My 11th grader said it was harder than last year. And her score dropped 80 points

My 11th grader thinks the reading section was very hard. Hoping the merit index goes down from last year's 224.

My junior came home after the test and said she was chopped. Got a 1200 on the PSAT.

Score drops over a year shouldn't be happening, though this seems to be not uncommon this year. CB needs to get it together.

DP. The fall PSAT is the same for 10th and 11th graders.

Caveat, you can't count on two people having all the same questions on the digital test. Plus, the test is adaptive, with a harder or easier second part of each section.

DC didn’t think it was that hard and did better than last year, just from having completed Algebra 2/Trig and having an English teacher last year who had a hyperfocus on grammar rules. Index score went up from 205 (I think) to 220, with a perfect math score. Obviously not going to make the semi-finalist cut unless something crazy happens (like 6 years ago or something VA’s cutoff was 219) but we were never expecting that, given DC’s learning difference. Nice to be solidly Commended. Already has 1500+ on the SAT from August so kid is very happy to be done with standardized tests for a while.

DD 10th got a 1230 on the PSAT. I'm trying to decide whether she should do SAT prep or get a tutor or anything like that before next year. I never did any of that stuff but it almost seems like it's more normalized now.
