Humanities instruction and funding comes from the institution and is notoriously cheaper than stem research and the mega structures that come from STEM initiatives. But sure, you can argue we should defund cancer, Alzheimer’s, and HIV research if that floats your boat. |
Other than your conjecture, what is your proof of this? |
I wanted to make the same point. There are also classes on Taylor Swift, Harry Potter and so many topics that on the surface seem complete frivolous but there could be academic merit to them. Would I be inclined to take such a class? No and I am starting to really look askance at all this forcing of Drag Queens on our culture - I think there is more to it. That could also be a good college class to take - but academic freedom. |
Forced? Did I miss the national meeting where we all went to a drag parade or something? You literally don’t have to be in contact drag queens a day in your life if you just avoid the gay bar lmao. |
| And to think a Harvard degree actually once meant something. |
There are sooooo many Taylor Swift classes everywhere. Stanford. Duke. |
Get over it. Most college kids, including me during my 4 years, balance their class schedule with a couple of really hard classes, say Organic Chemistry and Advanced Algebra, a medium one that meets a requirement like sociology and an easy fun one. That is what these courses are for and all colleges offer a few dozen of them each semester. |
Harvard had an anthropology class taught by the author of the textbook "Demonic Males", in the 1990s. https://www.artofmanliness.com/character/behavior/demonic-males-podcast/ |
| Cool. Can’t wait for Harvard to hire a white person dressed up in black face who self named them selves a racial slur to teach the young adults of America. |
Not usually at Harvard, for credit. Rec classes like dance and pottery were not for credit. |
Precisely. Why would replacing history and science courses with courses on gender minstrels cause the US to fall behind China? It’s ridiculous. |
Wait...I have a boat ??? |

Yesterday a protestor at UW (Seattle)
interrupted a class discussion about whether you could die from c*mming too much. https://www.reddit.com/r/udub/comments/1nvrdnd/nazi_interrupts_psych_210_receives_predictable/ |
Discussing how drag poorly represents women seems like something that could come up in that course- maybe you should take it. You seem interested. |
