Harvard’s New Visiting Prof—LaWhore Vagistan

Anonymous
To teach “RuPaulitics: Drag, Race, and Desire”.

Someone tell me that this is a joke or NY Post tabloid fiction.

https://nypost.com/2025/10/01/us-news/harvard-hires-drag-queen-named-lawhore-vagistan-as-visiting-professor/

If true, incredible to me that Harvard would make this move, especially given the current political situation. Seems…ill-advised.

Sounds like a fun class!

Wait until you see the new offerings at UVA and Vandy once they sign Trump's government control over universities letter. Likely classes will include: "Women as a Vessel for Birth" and "Genius of Adolph Hitler" and "Muslim conspiracies" and "Downfall of Feminism" among other catchy classes.

Khubchandani holds a BA in sociology and anthropology from Colgate University, an MA and PhD in performance studies from Northwestern University, and was the inaugural Embrey Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Women's and Gender Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.

They have the credentials and have real world experience about gender politics- seems like a great person to take a class from rather than some boring academic who hasn’t actually interacted with society beyond their theory.

1. I don’t have any moral objection to the class, but I’d argue that “RuPaulitics” lacks academic merit. I wouldn’t want to pay $90k for my kid to take it. (FTR, I’d similarly object to “MMA and American Masculinity”). It’s fundamentally frivolous.

2. It’s politically provocative and unwise for Harvard at this time. Billions of $$$ on the line.

Yes, best to keep college education within the confines of safe bourgeois boundaries, with content and instruction as dull as possible.

“I’d argue that “RuPaulitics” lacks academic merit.” that’s okay. You’re just wrong. It’s a topic of social politics related to trans people and cross dressing communities- that’s pretty nut and bolts anthropology.
“I wouldn’t want to pay $90k for my kid to take it.” No one asked for you to.
“It’s fundamentally frivolous.” Welcome to Sociology and Anthropology and Political Studies.
“It’s politically provocative and unwise for Harvard at this time.” It’s a professor. A qualified professor. Teaching a course they’re qualified to teach. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it is provocative.

You seem deeply allergic to education.

I mean, these sorts of courses have been around forever. I took a class on Queer History through Film as an undergraduate back in the paleolithic era.

The professor has a PhD and post-doc, has published widely, and is a legitimate expert on the topic of queer/trans representation in art and culture, with a focus on South Asia.

You realize public schools like UVA are ALREADY until government control, yes?

Meh, in college we had classes like
“Are the French having better sex?”
“Impure Genes: the case for eugenics”
“The color blue”
And one I actually took
“Thug Networks: American Fraternities and Sororities”

Jesus Christ. It's like the elites want us to fall behind China.

DP: You aren't paying $90K for your kid to take it. It's only one class, so it doesn't cost $90K to take it, and it isn't required of anyone. So don't take it. Also, the title of a class never fully captures its content, they are designed like click bait for undergrads.

The topic here is academics at the highest level. Who are you to say what should or should not be studied by any given individual?

It sounds like an interesting elective for anyone studying modern politics, modern society, gender issues, etc., etc., etc. even people who may find those issues morally objectionable, maybe especially those as they will learn a lot and have a lot to contribute to class discussions (respectfully). In debate, you always need to study the "other side's" argument and know it better than they do. The same goes triple for academics. Would you expect an undergrad history major to be worth anything if they only studied one period of time in one country? Or a government policy major who only studied one system of government from one policy point of view? Or a literature major who only studied epic poems from Greenland? Or a CS major who only studied computer languages of the 19th century?

It is clearly a topic of our time -- note your own reaction to the topic-- and so is extremely worthy of study by the best and brightest minds of our time who are interested in the topic and the many social, medical, and political issues surrounding it. This is literally what academic is meant to do. Your math major kid need not take the class.

Do tell, how will 100 undergrad gender studies and polysci students taking this one semester elective cause the US to fall behind China? And fall behind them in what exactly?

Any topic can be studied in a rigorous, academic way or in a way that's frivolous.
