Princeton writing sample

these are questions to direct to the GC team at your private. This is what we are paying good money to fund their salaries for! I have taken many questions like this to my assigned team and received timely and appropriate feedback. Don’t be shy, they work for us!

It’s best to always follow an app’s instructions.

The apps instructions don’t say “only 1 or 2 pages”.

Yes, it does. Google it. “One to two pages is sufficient”

You don’t know what sufficient means.

It doesn't say it's 1 or 2. I'm pretty sure that Princeton AO's are smart enough to be able to read the first page or two of a longer piece and have an understanding of the student's writing and the teacher's grading. Sending a longer paper doesn't force the AO to read the whole paper.

True, but sending a longer piece does show poor reading comprehension

No it doesn’t. I agree with other posters that you don’t understand what “sufficient” means. You think it means “preferred” but that’s not what they said. Also, what high schools are assigning 1-2 page essays? My kid’s school only assigns papers that are at least 4-5 pages long and those are the only major assignments that might get meaningful comments.

Sufficient means that if your high school doesn't ask for anything above 2 pages, you're fine. You can submit a paper under two pages. It's enough. If your best paper is longer, that's fine too.

The priority seems to be the teacher's comments. It's not the student's fault that papers are too short or too long. In public schools, it's actually really hard to get a writing sample with feedback and grade. Only some teachers give feedback right on the paper. Some give feedback in a separate online location on the teaching platform, so how does that work?. And a lot just don't bother with any feedback...

DC’s English teachers put some comments in the paper but the bulk of the feedback on the separate rubric sheet. DC just included the rubric sheet as part of the writing sample when using it for applications.

Can you print the feedback?
