Best D3 schools to leverage lax talent?

I posted a question on another forum and people just said to look up where the roster had played in high school, but I didn't have much luck finding local girls for reference. My dd wants to play at a NESCAC school. She goes to a top dmv private and has the grades to be in the realm of consideration, but would she be able to play lax if she's a top player on a Pride or Stars type team, or are they looking for Capital, Heroes, M&D black, etc. level. TIA

The top NESCACs are looking for very high level lacrosse players. Typically, they recruit from Capital level teams, but there are a few Pride players. Not aware of any Stars players.

Look at the NESCAC standings. The top teams are getting top lacrosse talent. The bottom teams are not. All great academic schools but the lacrosse skill levels are different. They are not all getting Capital level talent. Watch the games online this spring to get a good feel for how your child might fit in on the field. Attend prospect days. Go to the D3 Lacrosse Masters. You'll start to see where your child fits.

If she's not a top player, her grades will need to compensate. The better you are, the lower your grades can be.

The higher your grades are, the less of a player you need to be. That's not to say the team will take someone who is only average but has great grades, but high-academic schools are looking for lax players who meet or exceed the school's typical admissions standards to compensate for the better players who are slightly below.

wrong. they don't recruit. they are one of few varsity programs who just picks their team from among the student body.

They recruit for women, for sure. I know someone who played there and she verbally committed before the fall of senior year, similar to the NESACs.

What year is she op? If she is older than freshman year, she should already have had conversations with her club about this.

Girls lacrosse for MIT head coach explains that they cannot help with admissions. You must get in on your own.

That was not the case for the girl I know who was recruited by MIT. It sounds like whomever was told this not a recruit, but coach is willing to consider them as a walk on if they are admitted.

I think both are correct but its all about the candidate. So situation varies by candidate. So-so player but great student, we'll consider you as a walk-on. Great player and average student, we need you to retake the ACT multiple times and jam APs into your senior schedule and get 4s and 5s, we'll get you in. But understand, MIT gets poached out of its recruits but lots of other schools even before the NLI went away.

My DS was also recruited by MIT, RIT and NESCACs. Our experience is they’ll take a strong student with good lacrosse stills, where an Ivy will takes an okay student with great lacrosse skills.
