How to handle disgruntled online seller

eBay is not like ordering from Lands End. If it is as advertised you have to keep it.

Good lord. Keep the sweater!

Eh, I would return it. If they don't like the reason you are returning it, they need to change their policies. But be prepared they she may leave bad feedback for you. I don't know how much you care about that. If they do, I would leave honest feedback saying that they were argumentative about the return even though their policy says they will accept returns.

This is not true. If sellers do not accept returns or have specific criteria for returns, they need to spell them out.

eBay allows sellers to set their policies. If you don’t accept returns or expect the buyer to pay shipping, you can set it that way.

So sellers like this who allow returns are getting the advantage of this policy (people will be more likely to buy in the first place) but then refusing in bad faith to follow their own policy.

This is wrong

Then why allow returns?

Now add up all the time, energy, and mental load you used trying to return the sweater.
It wasn't worth it.
There are things you could have spent time on that would have given you back the money of the sweater and added some experience that would compound. I suspect you don't even know what those things are or you would have done so and just donated the sweater.
Don't waste your time on wrong things. Government keeps printing more money including money meant for you. You are too busy holding on to the money you already have that is losing value.

I find this post hysterical
