How to handle disgruntled online seller

Anonymous
Bought a J crew sweater off ebay that said ‘returns accepted’ and I want to return it. There’s nothing wrong with it, but it fits weirdly on my shoulders.

I clicked to fill out the return info and was immediately met by hostile messages from the Seller, demanding to know why I hadn’t read the measurements in the listing and shooting me angry follow up messages when I tried to explain.

Wwyd? Ignore?

She has very good ratings and the pic in her ‘store’ makes her look like this sweet old lady.

Just keep the sweater.

Sweet old ladies often behave like this in their private lives. You should not be surprised.

Don't mess with granny!

There's no guarantee her profile pic is her.

Return the sweater. Get ebay customer service involved if needed.

Donate the damn thing

Ebay isn't Nordstroms op why should the seller have to pay return shipping because you don't like it. They also paid ebay sellers fees on that. Donate the sweater and don't be a jerk.

Disagree- this is why sellers post their return policy which Op is adhering to. If seller isn’t willing to have returns, they should put no returns allowed.

It’s Nordstrom. Not Nordstroms.

I suspect you are not eBay shopper?

I think this is jerk behavior. Returns are for when the item is defective. Or you got a size large and it was labeled medium. Sellers have to pay shipping both ways when you return

It doesn't matter if you say you have returns or not ebay forces returns either way.

You shouldn't be returning it for a bad fit. It's not a store. Pay for shipping.

Every once in a while you get mean people. Just expect it. My 3:

1) Person refused to sell me an item I won because they wouldn't make any money on it.

2) Person refused to take a wooden toy back that was described as new. But it had crayon and pencil marks on it. I told her I would formally dispute it with eBay and she agreed to take it back.

3) Person who was mad at me when I messaged her asking where my "Buy-It-Now" merchandise was after 3 weeks. She had messaged me inside eBay saying she didn't have the products I bought due to a mixup in her postings. She wanted to send me a different substitute, which I wouldn't have wanted. So she was rude to me because I missed her telling me she couldn't sell what she offered for sale.

That's how it goes.

Wear it under the clothing at winter when you don't plan to take off the coat.
Now add up all the time, energy, and mental load you used trying to return the sweater.
It wasn't worth it.
There are things you could have spent time on that would have given you back the money of the sweater and added some experience that would compound. I suspect you don't even know what those things are or you would have done so and just donated the sweater.
Don't waste your time on wrong things. Government keeps printing more money including money meant for you. You are too busy holding on to the money you already have that is losing value.
