Placement for this tattoo

Anonymous
I would do the upper arm. Or maybe right underneath the collar bone (though that might show more).

I am thinking of under my collarbone. I spend a lot of time at the pool, so my upper arm wouldn’t be hidden, but I can find a place where a bathing suit would cover it. I want a place where I can see it without doing contortions with a mirror.

do not get it on your ribcage that is one of the MOST painful places for a tattoo.

least to most painful in order
upper arm - outside
lower arm - outside
lower leg - calf
upper leg - outside

I would get one high up on your outer leg, top of your thigh near your hips (but not your hips)
or high up on your top / outer arm

collar bone is going to be exruciating

I have seen it on the side , under underarm.

Also inside wrists (though that is less private).

OP here,

If it hurts, I can deal.

I want a place where it’s not visible in a bathing suit, but also where it’s not weird to go get a tattoo with my teen sons.

I have the rib cage tattoos - was not that painful. About the same as my old tramp stamp.

I did have to be shirtless for rib cage fyi. In my bra if that’s a concern.

How about just under your ankle bone, in the heel area? You will be taking him with you every step you take...

IMO I'd want to be able to see it myself since it's in memory of your son. Having it on your back, etc. where you can't see it yourself doesn't seem logical to me.

I would like to get one too, but I want to get one that would be hidden when I am wearing clothing. I think I would find it intrusive to be asked about it at work or something like that.

At the same time, I don’t want a placement that is at all sexual, not a breast or lower back.

Ideas? It will be small and simple.

You can always cover one up with a little makeup like actors and actresses do, if you have to be in a more formal setting.

Ribcage?

I have a tatoo on my ankle (inner side) and I never have to show it if I don’t want to - socks or tights cover it. Of course if you don’t want it visible at the pool, or if you are a no-socks person that won’t work.

It’s a lovely idea, OP, and I hope it brings you and your sons comfort and loving memories.
