The 5th anniversary of the loss of one of my kids is coming up, and his surviving, now young adult, siblings want to get tattoos in his honor. I would like to get one too, but I want to get one that would be hidden when I am wearing clothing. I think I would find it intrusive to be asked about it at work or something like that.
At the same time, I don’t want a placement that is at all sexual, not a breast or lower back. Ideas? It will be small and simple. |
heart? But tattoos ARE bad for your skin. This is such a nice sentiment it's hard to really object tho. |
I know the symbol I want. I just don’t know where to put it on my body. |
I meant over your heart |
Upper arm
Upper leg Mid-back or rib cage area Shoulder |
Not being sarcastic. On your torso where your ovary would be. |
on your lower thighs rear |
On your shoulder? |
I would rec. the ribcage area. Either on the side, or right under where you bra line is. If you only want to be able to hide it in professional/formal settings, you could also go for something on your shoulder. |
I have three, all small. One on my hip, one on the top of my foot and one on my inner wrist. The only one people usually see is my wrist |
Maybe spine (symbolic of backbone of the family) or a white ink tattoo?

I have matching tattoos with two friends in this spot. No one ever sees it, outside of swimsuits. |
Adding one more white ink that’s less visible: ![]() |
Depending on how big it is even though you don’t want it to be seen, I would put it on the inside of my forearm closer to the wrist.
If it’s something small, this is actually a nice looking place for a tattoo. Most people won’t notice it there. Plus as multiple people in your family are getting the same mark it’s a way of supporting one another. If you really don’t want it showing I would say on your torso along the lower rib cage border as well. |
Inside of your upper arm.
I just saw a breast cancer tattoo on the back of someone’s ear. Back of the neck, if you don’t plan to have really short hair. |
