Lynchburg isn’t a poor community. It is, however, very conservative and that may turn off people. |
I have been on this website for 13 years, waiting for someone to post a house I can be in love with… I finally found her! There is so much potential here and so many gorgeous details… the woodwork, the stained glass, even some of the goofy murals. But that staining on the ceiling also suggests deferred maintenance. This house could be a dream or a nightmare. 😂 |
Lynchburg isn't bad, especially for a small town in Virginia. You are close to nature, not far from Charlottesville with some shops, restaurants, etc. Plus, the COL is so much lower than DC or Charlottesville. |
Thanks for sharing. It’s exactly like my great grandparents house in DC was on the inside. What a trip down memory lane. |
Money pit |
This is the most beautiful house I’ve seen posted on this forum! Absolutely gorgeous interior - perfect- and I like the exterior too. Of course I’d like it on more land, but this is a nice size if you don’t want much maintenance.
It’s a joy to look at. It would be a dream to tour, let alone live in. Probably with the drive just to tour it. Thank you for posting!! |
So much work to do inside and out! Ugh. |
R U kidding?? It is shouting "money pit". |
Even the baths and kitchen look workable! |
+1 I love the tile around the fireplaces. Beautiful house. I personally couldn’t take on that much square footage of old house. Mine is about half the size and it’s hard to keep up with. But it’s fun to look! |
The period details in that home are amazing. I hope whoever buys it will restore it with the care it deserves. |
It’s hard to say from online photos but it doesn’t look to need restoration. Maybe redecorate and fix the landscaping but the house looks fine on the inside. Maybe reconfigure the kitchen but I love the cabinets and the light. I also note that it’s not often that you see that many bathrooms in an old house. |
I love this house so much, the walls and colors are gorgeous |
There are some stains on the ceiling that suggest deferred maintenance of some sort. Houses like these are gorgeous but also an unpredictable money pit. You have to have a ton of money or DIY skill for them. |
Yes that’s true but to be fair, newer houses are not problem free, either. |
