Sick teens

1. Wash hands.
2. Sleep.
3. Multivitamin, or at the very least vit D and vit C.
4. If girl, check for anemia due to potentially heavy periods.

Teacher here.

There are always so many sick kids at school. I’m already restocking tissues and hand sanitizer and it’s only early September.

Your children are sitting next to sick kids, and they’ll be doing so for the rest of the school year.

I do what I can (provide supplies, regularly clean desks), but in the end the viruses always win.

When my kids were in school, they were always sick by mid September.

What are they sick with?

My teens are still sick relatively often, but never anything serious. Generally just routine colds that drag on a bit and are annoying.

But if I consider a couple of colds per year it can sometimes seem like more than it is.

Yes and I wonder sometimes if that is the problem. One is a very competitive XC runner and I wonder if she is just wearing herself out with the miles she’s putting in.

I think you are into something. My friend who's a marathon runner is constantly sick, running long distances wears her out.

They may want to consider wearing masks at school and getting more rest of possible.

Covid impacts your immune system for at least a year after each infection, making you more likely to get covid as well as everything else.

Wearing masks in high risk spaces is the best way to keep viruses at bay.

I’ve had COVID and am constantly getting colds. Did COVID harm my immune system? Am I now at risk of other infectious diseases? https://share.google/7GD4mcUWCR9tokqtY

This. My kids are rarely sick, but have each had something the last couple weeks. I chalked it up to being indoors with hundreds of other kids after spending most of the summer outdoors.

Wash hands as soon as they get into the house, and frequently elsewhere. Train them not to touch their face. You aren’t going to like it, but they should wear a mask (not cloth) around sick people or crowded new situations.
