730V/740M superscore-white female, do the AP score make it look better---5/5 calc BC, 5 comp sci A, 5 AP Spanish is this good enough for top engineering?

This is my DS exactly. Hard to see him so disappointed because he’s such a great kid. He’s feeling some schools are out since he can’t crack 1500.

Yeah it's tough (my kid is the 1450 scorer) - she studied so hard all summer trying to reach that 1500. She is looking at top LACs so she has the option to go TO. 1450 puts her in range to submit but it's a tough call. There's no explanation for why the score drops in the room other than general test anxiety. She'll try one more time in October.

Not saying it couldn’t be anxiety but the blue book practice tests are also not as difficult as the real tests. Some were so much easier that the college board pulled them.

Yall this is making me cringe. My kids are so average - maybe nationally above average but below average for this site, lol. My sophomore got like a 1060 on the PSAT last year and I still expect them to go to a great college and have a wonderful life. My husband and I went to “fine” colleges yet we are securely UC so your kids will be completely fine I promise!

Ouch

I’m not the person who posted this score, but my 11th grader got the same score with a different split. I think it is a great starting score. No need for your rude commentary.

+1
I am having serious regrets about raising a kid in this area. People do realize life success is not tied to parents being so invested in gaming standardized tests, right? Maybe consider your kid’s mental health. All the kids talk about at our big, highly ranked public is grades, SATs, APs, and the overly specific club they just started and want everyone else to join to boost numbers. These kids have no authentic interests anymore. Sad.

It's not 90's anymore. You and your UC husband should adjust expectation. Would be good for your DC.

Also, take a statistic class?

If it's not the 90s anymore, why are many schools test optional. Maybe YOU should take that statistics class. -new poster

How incredibly rude. There are good colleges for everyone. Stop being a jerk. I used to be similarly snotty, honestly, but I have seen and worked with so many people who went to lower tier schools and many of them are very bright, doing great things. Just stop.

It's not rude, it's cold hard reality. In 90's we got Clinton, economy is booming for more than 20 years. You didn't do well because you are capable. You did well because it's the right time and you were really lucky to be at the right place.

What have we got today? What's your prediction for our economy in the next 10 years?

Happy that my kid did as well as he hoped (1550) but even happier that he's not stressing too much: I had to remind him to check because he forgot that scores were being released today.

My kid got 1200 the first time, took it during finals in June and got an 1040. Studied over the summer and felt better about their performance this time. Will find out the score later today.

Most likely, will go test optional and will still go to an awesome school, have a good experience and be employed.

I agree on this, the scores on here do not match my kid's reality. He got an 1170 last time and we are thrilled that he was able to bring it up to a 1300 this time.

she's going to take the SAT five times?

Wow, this is just not true. I'm probably a lot younger than people on this post, as a stepmom vs. biological mom. I went to Princeton, my sister went to a not well known small liberal arts college, and we both earn the same now.

My senior improved from a 1540 super score to a 1570 at this seating. One of the controversial 4th time taking.
