| Is either one easier for an out of stater to integrate in terms of the social scene? |
| Uva has a higher percent out of state. Unc limits to 18 percent. But both great options. |
UVA UNC is 87% in state students. |
+1 UVA all the way. |
82% oops |
| 82% UNC versus 67% UVA |

I'm sorry, but this is a silly thread. These schools are both excellent and basically indistinguishable academically, socially, and from the standpoint of career prospects. And it's weird that the mom is so involved in the decision.
I asked if the kid already has scholarship offers. OP hasn't responded. Clearly there's only one correct answer here. Assuming the kid really does has offers to both schools, he should go to the one where he feels most comfortable with the coaching staff and potential teammates End of story. |
Both are state schools dominated by in-state students. This isn’t newsworthy. |

So it’s clear that no one in this thread knows annything about track. UVA somehow got Vin Lananna away from Oregon (was at Nike and Stanford prior) to he Director of Track & Field. He’s a literal legend. President of USA Track & Field. His reputation for working with students is sterling.

Looks like the BB football hire at UNC LOL |
The running community wonders why he hasn’t had the same success at uva that he had at Stanford and Oregon many years ago. https://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=13728709#post-15 |
Huh? He looks nothing like Belichick. The majority of Vin’s career has been spent working with collegiate athletes. |
I’m sorry, didn’t they just win the ACC Championship and send a bunch of athletes to NCAAs? Margot Appleton?!? Please don’t cite a toxic message board. |
Lananna was a great coach! Unfortunately, he is 72 and from what I've heard, he delegates to his assistants quite a bit |
