It's not necessarily that your job is on the line. They have to report accrued vacation as a liability on their balance sheets, so some employers hate it.
In NY, this is probably illegal if you haven't used all your NY accrued paid sick allotment. It may also be in violation of state wage payment laws, depending on how your policies are written. A lot of states consider accrued vacation to be the same as wages due, so they can't just take it from you this way. |
