Many of these followers also defended the Catholic Church and insisted some of the abuse was overblown. I have people in my family like this. Very little sympathy for the victims of pedophile priests. "How terrible..." and with a grumble about communists driving it all to undermine the church, that's it. Protecting the church is the most important goal of all. They put themselves and their need to protect the people and institutions that give them purpose in life. They don't know what else they'd do with themselves if their religious/cultural/political institutions that contribute to their identity fail them. |

+1 The collateral damage was too great in the past. Now that calculus has changed in the minds of some people. Its not just going to be Trump, or even just one party. People are going to be confronted with a massive and long-lasting blackmail operation that was run in broad daylight, and that's going to raise a lot of uncomfortable questions. |

I would say, great, try 'em all, lock up the guilty. (I cheered as loudly as any non-NJ resident when that crook Menedez got his.) Except the judiciary has been so corrupted that it'll be the same result in the end... any of trump's cronies who get outed will get a technicality pass at some stage of the process. So many ways to protect the guilty when the checks and balances have been destroyed. |

Either he’s lying about its being a hoax or he’s admitting that Democrats outsmarted him because he initially fell for their hoax. A reporter should pin him down and ask whether he was duped in the past or he’s lying now. |

Every Democrat in the House is voting for its release... and only 4 republicans. Trump has made it very clear he doesn't want the files released. But sure, it's a Democrat coverup. |
