If MLSNext is supposed to be focused on development, the individual dog fight is where its at. |
If your kid needs a more kumbaya environment, you should prob find another team. |
There is no way your coach doesn't call a team and parents meeting to explain the process and set expectations |
There is. Ours is Wednesday. I am curious if that is normal. Feels late. |
| Coaches don’t care about your weekend plans. Check your email Wednesday night. |
| Our coach usually gives a few days notice but still expects all players to be there even the ones not dressing for the game. It's a little humiliating. |
We got an email setting expectations after the preseason tournament, mostly targeted at new families |
So the kids not dressing just hang out with the parents like spectators? good God. |
We have nonrostered and injured kids come to watch on their own (no expectations from coach) but they sit with the team. |
Sounds ridiculous. Go find yourself a team where you can at least dress. |
Consider it a preview of how it would be like in college soccer. With rosters of 28 there are many who don’t get to dress at least for the away games. Home games they will be there standing on the sidelines. |
Most boys have no change to play college soccer. Girls, the bar is much lower skill-wise. |
GA Team in the DMV. Ensures that every kid plays in 90%+ of games. Call me crazy, but there should probably still be *some* focus on developing the roster from top-to-bottom. And to be transparent, weekly performance impacts starting rotation and playing time. |
Not just college but even in high school it works like that. |
+1 Yup, HS game day rosters can be even bigger than 18 and often times a third or over don’t get any playing time |
