| I know three married adult trans men with kids. They all work to support their families, to the exact same extent as the cis men I know. |
OP. This is one of the things I am wondering about. Could you tell me more about what you wrote above re: not wanting to be seen as women/coping with internalized misogyny? What do you think about transition-supporting hormone therapy (T) for these FTM boys? What about "top surgery"? It seems like they would wind up putting themselves into such a tiny bracket of adults physically, I wonder who they will form adult committed sexual relationships with. |
Tell me about this! Who did they marry? Who carried the kids? |
This isn't about who heads households or who makes more money. Gender roles exist. Those gender roles exist in muslim countries, hindu countries, shinto countries, etc. they are not Christian social constructs, they predate christianity. In modern society where women have birth control, relatively equal pay, relatively equal opportunity, the gender roles are a lot looser but they still exist because of things like pregnancy and physical strength. |
This is far more likely in high in come households than in middle class or working class households because the jobs depend less on physical skills and more on knowledge based skills |
If I cared so much about societal expectations then I wouldn't be trans!
