OP - what is the GPA trend for your DC? Are grades trending upward as the classes got more difficult or did the go down in junior year with more APs?

I think MIT is definitely out I'm afraid and most of the top 20 BUT if your DC's grades are on an "upward trajectory" it's possible that you could get VA tech with a strong Fall semester GPA. It's time to lock in but schools really like an upward trajectory and your DC's SAT score shows he has the intelligence. Some DCs just need that extra semester of senior year to mature and show study skills and academic growth!

Agreed w the above that MIT is out for sure as with just about most of the T30. VT is a possibility as with school like RPI or WPI.

Is this FCPS? That GPA puts the kid around 50th percentile in the class. Not getting into MIT or UVA.
