Watched the Philadelphia Union u12 play today

Were these teams even in the same part of their seasonal development? This is early for a game at that age. Did Philly play all summer? Did Potomac? Because an MLS academy in full swing vs a local club just starting to play together this season would exacerbate what should be a mismatch anyway by having one team short on training time and cohesion. I’d even be surprised if Potomac kids were all back from summer vacations (which is normal in almost every world league except MLS).

This game should have been a good example of the difference in talent and training, and would highlight Philly’s level. But not sure if it’d be an accurate representation of Potomac’s abilities.

Philly had their season orientation on Monday
So they definitely didn't have more than 2 training sessions before Friday

Potomac's P1 started training a few weeks ago so pretty even on that front. The difference was pretty incredible. I am still shocked at what I saw. It was eye opening to see suburb talent vs pro academy talent. Its not even in the same galaxy. Bare in mind that the P1 retained about 70% of last year's team which won its EDP league. They had a hard time stringing two passes in a row and had to boot the ball out all game to get some relief from the constant pressure.

Few weeks vs 2 days is pretty even?
That's funny

Anyway, l'll assume Philly team is made up of handpicked high quality players from multiple U-little teams in PA region

Potomac is P2P ecnl

The union players looked like they had been playing together from the day they were born. Completing synchronized.

Let’s be honest. 10/10 times Phili smokes Potomac.

Exactly! The whining and excuses on why they lost a game is pathetic. They are better. They should be better. Pay attention to why they are better, replicate in little Johnny and then he will look like them in a FEW YEARS…not in a few weeks.

6-0

Philadelphia beat Orlando SC 2-0 in the semis and then went on to win the final against RB Lepizig (from Austria) 4-0. This is the highest level of u12 that I have ever seen.

do not want to be rude but 2014 year is quite weak in dmv. 2013 and 2015 are much stronger group.

Interesting…please elaborate on how you have determined that.

Really interested in this blanket age group theory.

It's completely bogus and clouded by the poster's own POV. Also, we're talking about such young ages it's all going to change over time anyways.

I left the comment about weak 2014. Of cause it is subjective but I watched a lot 2015, 2014, 2013 and just compare. Even "the best" BSC coach said it is the weakest u11 competition he's ever seen. Can it change? of cause.
