I had heard that Philadelphia Union has one of the best academies in the country so I decided to watch them today again Potomac. My God.... seem to play a different sport.
The level of ball mastery, soccer iq with and specially without the ball is some of the best I have seen in the country. I was blown away by their talent. Truly outstanding. |
| Your reaction is more a statement on the low level of soccer in US youth soccer. So when you see a team with actual talent you are blown away. It truly is a different game being played. As good as Union looked to you, take that same team to Europe and they would be as out of place there as Potomac looked. |
Young teams compete with European teams and always have. It’s 18-21 where we really struggle against Europeans. Thanks for showing us. You have no idea what you’re talking about though. Typical DCUM. |
DP. Anyone saying there isn’t a delta until 18-21 is deluded. As Caleb Porter said when he was coaching college, it’s not like he, other college coaches or even MLS teams would be able to get the 17/18/19 y/o US players they get if clubs in the Big Five leagues were actively pursuing those same players. |
Against which Potomac team? |

Against which Potomac team?
2014 P1 |
| would prob lose against syc pre mlsn 2014 |
| Weird, the schedule shows Potomac played a team name SWAG from Germany |
Swag is the union 14s |
That’s why MLSNext is a far better option than ECNL. If you are on a local area MLSNext team, you are playing Phili Union, NY Red BullsFC Delco (in addition to other very good teams) x2 year. Everything is 20%-25% faster than ECNL. At least that’s been our experience. |
Spot on. Our issue has gone from not having a “soccer culture” - to college soccer is hampering us from building more talented professionals. |
Are you saying we now do have a “soccer culture”?? Really? |
| We are traveling. Is there a way to watch the replay? Curious to see what the Philly kids look like at this age. |
From Germany 🇩🇪 |
Uh no. |
