| There aren’t a lot of 5 BR houses at this price point in this neighborhood, especially not with a large yard like that. This will definitely appeal to families with multiple kids/need for office space. It could use upgrades, but isn’t horrible as is by any means. I was expecting much worse. |

I'm an empty nester, almost retirement age, who would love to buy this--perfect for my situation. Nicely sized/laid out for the type of entertaining we do; turn the two BRs on the first floor into the primary BR with an attached bath so that DH and I can live on one floor as we age; upstairs BRs for my sewing room/office and visiting out-of-state child; move my recent college grad to the basement and then later rent it out for income; big sunny yard for my vegetable garden; nice walkable neighborhood.
Yeah, the kitchen and that brown bath are meh and at that price we wouldn't do big renovations (beyond the first floor primary BR plan), but both appear perfectly serviceable. |
Me again: I also love the floors, so. |
It also works well for a young couple who are stretching to buy close in. They can rent the basement for a while and then take it back when they need the space with kids. |
OP here: They used to grow an EPIC garden in that large back yard. I could see the trellises for both tomatoes and squashes/melons and was jealous/wanted to introduce myself. Never did. Regrets. |
| I for one live this house. It’s got a lot of potential and would be wonderful to make your own. |
| love^ |
| It's at least $200K overpriced. It's on a busy road plus it is close to I-66. Tons of noise. Sure, it's a 10K sq ft lot but most is not usable because it's on a corner. A builder won't touch it because of the busy roads, and at this price, buyers can get something comparable that's not near busy roads. There does seem to be some serious shilling in this thread. The house wouldn't sell at this price even last year, and certainly won't in this much worse market. Nice try though. |
| This will definitely be purchased by a developer to build an 8-plex. You can thank the courts for allowing unchecked development throughout Arlington. |
8 plexes aren't allowed by the EHO regulations. Isn't that whole "missing middle" thing still tied up in a lawsuit anyway? |
What did you pay for your house and what is it worth now? |
| I’m a sucker for a sun-filled addition. |
This. And if you want a bigger or newer house, look further out, or in another state. |
| Its a good house for a family and has access to alot of amenities. Yes, its adjacent to the main street, but it also comes with perks that you are near the Custis Trail which can take you to Ballston within 10 min to the metro or 15 to Ballston Quarter. Its also in a desirable school district, walkable to St. Ann's parochial school, or the Escuela Key if your kid wants to attend one of those other options. You can also get by living on 1 car at this location which many of my neighbors have done over the years. For those that want walkable location with good schools, this is it and you have 5 bedrooms. |
| Ugly, on major street, in need of tons of maintenance. And take a look at streetview from George Mason Ave -- all the cars are looking into your backyard and all those back windows as they drive by. Hard pass. |
